As a native Chicagoan, Church-born and gospel-bred, pianist, vocalist and educator Durrell Daniels is laying his tracks in the music industry. Drawing from his appreciation of the late Donny Hathaway, a Masters Degree in Music Disciplining Jazz, Classical and Pop. His style projects the promise of a skillful and stable musical experience in flight.

The International Black Writers Convention awarded Durrell Daniels as “Young and Upcoming Songwriter” in 1986 Durrell wrote and performed the music for ETA’s Black Alliance music award winning “Don’t get Around Much Any more” in 1998 and” A Place to Be Me in 1989. The Dells, Pop Staples, Walter Jackson, and The Warrick Carter Big Band Combo have benefited from his talent, support and creativity. Durrell has performed before audiences throughout the United States, Brazil, Canada and Japan.

Alley Cat slick, he performed “Jazz in the Alley” in 1998. Classically skilled, he lent Tenor support to the widely acclaimed Community Renewal Choir under direction of Jerome Bell. He was featured in” This American Life” 1998 broad cast on Radio Station WBEZ.

October ‘97 marked the release of his first CD, ”The Sounds of Durrell, where in live performance he aggressively displayed his ability to transcend blues, pop, gospel and R&B without skipping a beat. Steppers are finding it easy to spin to “Can We Love” and Jazz USA labeled his CD “The Pick of the Month” for December ‘97, enjoying the funkiness of his Bass-poppin’ Stevie Wonder remake “Higher Ground”.

In 2000 he played the opening of the brand new worldly acclaimed hotel The Wyndham Chicago wowing all who had the privilege of being there. In November 2000 he was rated Number two on the Soul Charts of Mp3.com’s top ten International Music Network for the upbeat song “Givin’ My Heart”,

Returning to the theater in 2001 Durrell acted as Musical Director for the Pegasus Players Production of David Barr’s “Bronzeville”.

Xmas 2001 Durrell showed off acting skills in a Film starring, “Will Smith” As the Organ player” in the Mega hit Movie “Ali”.

The Summer of 2006 will be blessed by the new CD recording entitled “ Release” accompanied by his newly formed group, “Soul”.

He has recordid with the O'Jays, Ramsey Lewis, Chuck Mangione, Dennis DeYoung, Richie Havens, Angela Bofill, Keith Washington and Bonnie Koloc.
